Roy Hodgson wants to Stay in National Team

England manager Roy Hodgson is thought to have expressed his desire to stay as the national team boss until the World Cup 2018.

The current contract with the former Liverpool manager ends after the Euro 2016. After a very disappointing World Cup 2014, the possibility of Hodgson continuing as the manager beyond the European Championship only rests with the national team performing extremely well in this tournament. If they suffered yet another embarrassing exit, it is highly unlikely that Hodgson will be given the time to continue despite his ambitions plans of reducing the average age of the team.

Since taking over as the England team boss just before the Euro 2012, Hodgson has been actively involved in trying to overcome the transitional phase for this England team.He has brought in a number of young players to the fold, but it has also been forced due to retirements of top players like Ashley Cole and Steven Gerrard in the last 12 months. A disappointing World Cup 2014 will not have been what the English FA had in mind when they extended the contract of the former West Brom boss until the Euro 2016.
